thanksgiving ..

so we had a wonderful thanksgiving ..so many things to be thankful for!  especially my perfect husband ..  but anyways we started the day out early and guess what we did?!  went swan hunting with his papa ..super fun!  we saw tons of birds but only got a few shots off ..i got scared and didn't shoot at all .. haha but we ended up getting one bird ..kinda cool!  i had never been swan hunting before so this was a new experience for me ..pictures!

 

 we cooked the swan like a turkey to have along with all the other delicious food ...but unfortunately it didn't get eaten .. coco -the stephenson's dog - wouldn't even touch it.  me being the vegetarian that i am didn't even get close! .. i guess swans taste kind of like duck ..which i've been told doesn't taste very good.   but ..oh well we attempted to make it delish!

after the hunting we got ready and went and spent a little time with my family.  It was curt's families year but they weren't starting til 2:00 so from 1200 to about 130 we went and visited my family.  it was way fun to see everybody ..gotta love family!

after the park we all headed back to the house for dinner ..and yummy yummy food!  i love thanksgiving dinner .. my favorite part is the stuffing.  i could eat tons of this stuff .. curt likes his special mashed potato concoction the best!  i love this too ..we eat it every sunday.  it consists of ..in this order ..mashed potatoes-corn-ranch dressing-gravy-topped with A1 steak sauce!  so freakin good ..try it sometime :)

well it was great to spend the day with loved ones ..i am so thankful for my family and curt's family!  we are so lucky .. i hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! including black friday ..crazy shoppers!  up next .. CHRISTMAS!

i know this is a little late but i have been working since thanksgiving and haven't had any time to blog ..but i couldn't miss talking about my good friend chelsea.  her birthday was this past week and we did a double and went out to dinner for her special day .. it was so fun to see her!  it has been way too long ..we had a delicious dinner at her favorite restaurant and caught up on life!  it was fun to have curt there and her date ..this is the first time curt has ever hung out with one of my friends ..crazy!  but it was a blast ..

cookin for turkey day ..

so this will be my first thanksgiving EVER that i have actually had to cook and bring something to thanksgiving dinner ..crazy!  but thanks to my mom this wasn't very hard :)  she helped me make pumpkin cream cheese muffins that are delish!  and i even made curt and i some pumpkin pies all by myself ..yep pretty proud here ..even tho pumpkin pies are the easiest kind of pie to make! haha ..hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving meal tomorrow!  yummy ..

so a nurse i used to work with sent this to me on facebook and i just had to share ..i can relate to every single one of these!  so funny ..if you don't get all of them its okay ..its a nurse thing! :)  gotta love my profession!

you know you're a nurse when...

• you would like to meet the inventor of the call light some night in a dark alley.
• your sense of humor gets more warped each year. Almost everything can seem humorous...eventually.
• you know the smell of different diarrhea to identify it.
• you wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom.
• you can tell the pharmacist more about the medication they are dispensing than they know.
• you check the caller ID on your day off to see if anyone from the hospital is trying to call and ask you to work.
• discussing bodily fluids over a gourmet meal seems perfectly normal to you.
• you think that caffeine should be available in IV form.
• you get an almost irresistible urge to stand and wolf your food even in the nicest restaurants.
• you believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if you say, 'It's unusually quiet around here today'
• you have ever had a patient look you straight in the eye and say 'I have no idea how that got stuck up there.'
• you notice that you are using more 4 letter words than you even knew before you started nursing. ..[ok this one doesn't relate ..i don't use 4 letter words ..but my coworkers do! haha]
  
• every time someone asks you for a pen you can find at least 4 of them on you.
• you live by the motto 'to be right is only half the battle, to convince the doctor is more difficult.'
• you've told a confused patient that your name was that of your coworker and to holler if they need help.
• your bladder can expand to the size of Winnebago's water tank.
• you find yourself checking out other customer's veins in grocery waiting lines.
• you avoid unhealthy looking shoppers in the mall for fear that they will drop near you and you'll have to do CPR on your day off.

mouse hunting ..

so today we were at curts parent's house for sunday dinner and his mom was telling us that they found a mouse in one of their storage rooms downstairs ..well sooner or later the boys came up with this!

wow ..so gross!  definitely not a fan of mice ..yikes!  so then papa bruce took the kids on a mouse hunt!  they all got dressed up in camo ..had their sticks/weapons ..and they were ready to find another mouse!

they snuck up real quiet ..then i left cuz i didn't wanna see the mouse so no more action pictures of the little ones .. but in the end they didn't find another mouse.  whoosh!  the kids were a little sad they didn't find another mouse ..but they still had fun! i guess just another form of hunting in the larsen family :)

oh yes ..new moon

friday night at 11:30 pm we saw new moon ..so much better then the first one.  curt and i went with my mom and cux.  we ate at z'tejas ..shopped around ..hit up barnes and noble [i caved in and just bought the second book in the hunger games series] ..got peppermint hot chocolate at starbucks ..and still had to wait an hour for the movie to start.  it was all fun and games til we got home and in bed at three and my alarm went off at six to get up and go to work for twelve hours.  curt didn't get much more sleep because he had his LSAT class ..but even with the no sleep part it was still worth it and super fun hanging out with cux and my momma.  thanks mom for taking us with you .. yay for new moon!

when i read the books i'm totally team edward ..but after the movie i might just have to say team jacob.  but who knows ..two more movies to come! i think they make the scenes with edward and bella a little too cheesy ..but thats just me.  still gotta love it ..

finished ..

so pretty much all i have been doing today is reading ..and as of a couple hours ago i finished the hunger games! it was SO good.  every one should read it ..i loved it!  i am making curt hurry and finish the book he is reading so he can start this one.  i need the second book in the trilogy right now! i ordered it ..its called catching fire ..BUT its on back order for who knows how long.  ugh ..i'm tempted to just go buy it right now at barnes and noble ..hmm what to do.

the nutcracker ..

tonight we went and saw cute keslee in the nutcracker ..she did so good!  she has the cutest smile and was the best buffoon out there!  every year when we go watch the ballet it always brings back memories ..ballet was a huge part of my life growing up.  i spent many summers at ballet camps and dedicated so many hours to ballet it is crazy to think i don't dance now .. sad! ..i have danced since i was four years old and i have been in ten nutcracker performances .. loved every one!  dancing will always be a part of me and i am so glad i have nieces who love it too .. here are some pictures of me, curt, cux, jj, keslee, and kambree!

on a side note ..i am reading the best book.  and i would recommend it to anyone who is dying for something good to read.  pretty much all of curt's family has read this book as well as the sequel and LOVE it ..i am about half way through and can't put it down ..soooo  check it out! the hunger games trilogy by suzanne collins ..very good!

Peace & Ballet

family traditions ..

so a lot of families have many different traditions ..one of mine that i remember the most growing up was going to the university of utah basketball games.  this tradition actually started way before i was born but growing up you could always find my family at the utah games.  it was always so much fun ..our 'utah neighbors' ..[the people we have had season tickets by for as long as i can remember] ..dippin dots after halftime ..the 2nd half song ..HEY - hey baby! i wanna knoooooww -will you be my girl .. [we loved this song for some reason] ..getting chalupas at taco bell after the games ..and always cheering for our favorite team as a family.  once cux and i hit high school we became 'too cool' to go to the games ..but now we have grown up and know what is important ..being with family ..at utah basketball games! :)

well tonight was the first game this season that i've been to unfortunately ..but it was a great game.  we played the utah state aggies and boy were there tons of aggie fans in the crowd ..their student section was probably bigger than ours!  curt had to go take a practice LSAT test so he couldn't come :( .. so i went and sat in the MUSS with cux ..wow students are crazy.  it was way cool sitting so close tho ..i'm used to the tickets that are way up high.  it was a blast tho ..my mom, dad, and jj weren't too far up from us so we weren't that far away ..it was a very close game and we ended up winning by one single point ..talk about exciting.  since curt is a student at the U we joined the muss so i'm his 'buddy' all year ..we'll have to get our muss t shirts soon!  i hope curt and i can go to a lot of the games this year ..its just fun to be there cheering on the utes!  ..i know my dad will be there! love ya pops ..

Peace & Traditions

husband to the rescue ..

so yesterday morning on my way to work ..i got in my car and noticed i was getting close to needing some gas.  i was running a little late so i decided to get gas after work ..well as you can imagine this was not a good idea.

i was driving up first south in salt lake to get the university hospital ..right when i hit about 13th east ..[and start going up the hill] ..my car starts to jerk and my gas pedal isn't working.  oh i start praying i will make it at least to work ..and i get about 100 yards from the parking lot and my car dies ..ughhhh!  worst feeling ever ..so i call curt and wake him up freaking out.  my gas light never went on and i should have had at least thirty more miles to go before i ran out of gas.  i don't know what the deal was ..well curt saved me bright and early in the morning with some gas for my car.  thanks baby ..

while i was waiting ..my lovely sister pulls up behind me.  she was on her way to school and noticed my car with the warning lights on.  it made my day ..haha thanks cux!  from now on i am filling my car when the gas tank gets down to like a quarter of a tank left.  that was not a fun experience ..

well after that fun morning ..i get home from work and i find these pretty things on the counter with a little note ..

well he has been up to some fun stuff ..other than waking up early and bringing gas to his stranded wifey.  he has had some hunting adventures ..he shot a deer and has been out duck hunting with tacoma a lot.  his dad and brothers also drew tags for the cougar hunt so a kid i work with is taking everyone mountain lion hunting sometime soon.  they are pretty stoked .. gotta love hunting! :)

well we have a fun week ahead of us.  the annual nutcracker ballet up in ogden.  we get to go watch keslee ..she is a buffoon and will be soooo freakin cute.  and the long wait for new moon is almost over ..i hope its better then the first movie.  we are going with my mom and sister ..can't wait!  we'll take lots of pictures ..hopefully.

what we do ..

so today ..we had a pretty lazy day.  i didn't work ..and curt didn't go to school.  so .....we did what we do best.  spend money ..and it was sure fun!  ..the guilt did eventually set in but then i just looked at my new clothes and shoes and i felt all better! :)

we started the day by sleeping in until eleven ..wonderful!  then curt went and played ball and wanted to take me out to eat at a place close to where he plays ball ..so i went with him!  he plays every monday and thursday with his dad and brothers out in west valley by their offices.  so ..we went to the ghettos to eat ..and it was delicious!

this place had WAY good sushi ..we love sushi.  we always get at least four rolls whenever we order sushi and we eat it all.  sooooo delicious!  we got a vegas, crunchie, new york, and mt fuji rolls.  we sat at the sushi bar ..i wanna learn how to make sushi.  it is so cool watching those sushi masters ..  nothing ever beats happy sumo when it comes to sushi but this place came close.

then ..being in the ghettos and being right next to a walmart after lunch ..we hit up wally world.  don't you worry ..we got so much stuff.  gave them way too much business today but i needed some new mascara and lotion  ..ended up getting some miley cyrus brand clothes [you know it] and ..... in one of our pointless purchases of the day we bought hardy a coat/vest.  it is getting cold and this poor little puppy needs something to keep him warm!  he looked so cute ..but it took him a while getting used to it.  i think tacoma was a little jealous.  they are funny dogs .. fashion show time!

we then went to forever young shoes ..love this place for cheap shoes!  i got me two new pairs of boots ..that are super cute.  they have everything buy one get the second pair half off so of course i had to buy two .. when i wear them ..hopefully with a cute new outfit i will post a picture.

then we went to our next favorite store close by the shoe store ..barnes and noble.  this is our favorite store ..and we bought four new books ..[ya way too many] ..by an author that curt found and likes so far ..

How long have you been together? well we went on one date in march 2007 then didn't talk or go out again til october 24th 2007 to be exact ..then together everyday until we got married!

Whose siblings do you see the most? its about equal ..every sunday we have dinner with my fam in k town and his fam in c ville.

Do you have any children together? no ..no ..and no!

What about pets? oh yes ..two dogs! taco and hardy ..a weimereiner[however you spell it] and a yorkie.

Did you go to the same school? nope i went to davis and curt went to viewmont ..rivalry schools!

Who wakes up earlier? usually me to go to work ..but if curt is going hunting he wakes up way earlier. we both hate getting up in the morning tho ..when we don't have anything to do we sleep until at least noon ..heavenly.

Where was your first date? wingers in kaysville then watched two movies with justin and becca at justin's house ..super fun!

Who has the bigger family? curt by far ..seven kids in his family and like 22 nieces and nephews.

Who eats more? we both eat a ton ..anywhere we go we order like two things each. especially at taco bell ..wow we get enough food there to feed a family of five ..and we eat it all!

Who sings better? oh curt definitely ..his whole family has good voices. very jealous..

Where did you honeymoon? stayed at grand america then chilled at our house for a day and headed off to the mexican riviera on a cruise ..puerto vallarta ..mazatlan ..and cabo san lucus. so freakin fun ..

Favorite date night? probably just dinner and a movie ..we love eating out a little too much.

Favorite TV show to watch together? arrested development for sure ..hilarious!
