the past couple of weeks i have really been so grateful for life ..
life is great. life is fragile. you never know when it is going to end.
on friday we went to a funeral for one of curt's soccer coaches ..he died of cancer at age thirty one and left behind his wife and two little girls. i never met this man but i learned a lot about him at his funeral. he always had a positive influence on everyone and loved life. i felt so sad for his family ..i was crying throughout the whole thing. i usually don't cry much but for some reason the tears kept coming ..
being a nurse in an intensive care unit i see a lot of life ..and a lot of death. i have been with many families as their loved ones have passed away ..expected and unexpected. at work i have people's lives in my hands every day .. it is so sad to see and hear of all the unfortunate illnesses and situations people are faced with. but with all the death and sadness ..there is also life and happiness. the patients you think will never make it and miraculously stay alive. when nurses and doctors have lost hope ..family never does and i love to see people recover against all odds.
..i am so thankful that i get to see the sunset ..laugh with my husband ..play with my dogs ..be with family and friends ..be active ..simply be alive!
we need to remember everyday that we are alive ..walking ..talking ..eating ..smiling ..and be grateful for life. there are always hard times for everyone ..especially in the world today .. but always find something to be happy about everyday!

Loved your post megs...You are right, it is so easy to take advantage of the awesome things we have here and now. I was just talking to my mom about this the other day...why is it that we love something so much more when it's gone? Shouldn't we love it now so there are no regrets when it slips from our grasp?

if we are thinking of the same person, my parents are in their ward in Farmington? I went to church with them the Sunday after he passed away and it was such a neat/sad story. He sounded like such an amazing guy.. but I can't help but think of his poor wife and little girls!
